27 Weeks!!!

My sweet son,

Mark, we have reached a big milestone this week, Momma is in the third trimester which means we are in the last leg of this part of our journey! I'm so excited to see you and meet you after all this time but I'm still pretty nervous too. Your kicks are getting stronger all the time, on Monday Momma actually SAW you kick! It made a part of my belly jump, it was so neat! Daddy is still waiting to feel those kicks, everytime I get him to put his hand where you kick, you stop kicking. I have finally distinguished when you are getting hiccups, nothing in particular seems to trigger them though. We love you little boy and hope you know just how much.

Love,
Your Momma

This is what's happening in there this week:Baby's now the size of an eggplant!
Baby's lungs are going through some major developments these days, which (combined with the opening of previously plugged nostrils) means he's now able to practice inhaling and exhaling. The lack of air in your womb means every "breath" is filled with amniotic fluid, but hey -- it's progress.

Week 26!!!

My sweet son,

Here we are another week has passed, I can't believe there is only 98 days until your due date.It feels like this milestone was so far away in the beginning and now it's already here.Today is Father's Day, I can't wait to celebrate this day with you here next year! You are moving in there tons but Daddy still hasn't got to feel one yet. I'm starting to sleep better now that we bought a body pillow for me. I'm starting to get super bad heartburn though and I have had some Braxton Hicks this past week too. A stranger told me this week how small I look and how there was no way I was due in September, it made me want to laugh b/c I definately don't feel small these days lol. I hope that you give me a few strong kicks when Daddy is around this week so he can feel you finally. Mark, you are such a loved little boy and I want us both to remember that always.

Love,
Your Momma

Here is whats happening in there this week:Baby's now the size of an eggplant!
Baby's soaking up your antibodies, getting his immune system ready for life outside the womb. Eyes are forming, and he'll soon be practicing the blink...perfect for batting those freshly grown lashes.

Week 25!

My sweet son,

Well here we are one week closer to you being here. You are causing Momma to lose sleep and I mean that literally. It's getting harder to get comfortable at night and my hips have starting to give me some problems and pain. You are worth every pain and wink of lost sleep though. I just look at it this way, at least it's preparing me for when you get here lol. Another exciting thing happened this week...Momma got to feel you kick on the outside!!! It was a sweet moment and I just wish Daddy would have been home for it but he was working to take care of us. You are being a stubborn little bugger, you haven't done it since and when I think I can feel one and put my hand there you stop until I take my hand away. I'm hoping this week you give me a few good kicks that Daddy can feel, we love you so much Mark.

Love,
Your Momma

That oh-so-handy sense of equilibrium is kicking in, and baby's learning to distinguish right side up from upside down.

Week 24!

My sweet baby boy,

24 weeks today means we have reached viability day!!!! This excites Momma so much since you now have a fighting chance of survival outside of me but I want you to stay MUCH longer that way it's not just a fighting chance but a normal chance at life. It's so hard to think in 3 and a half months you will be here, its seems like we just saw that beating heart in a little blobby baby last week and now your in my belly dancing around and a little person already. I still feel like there is so much we need to do to prepare for you but I know it will all come together and I won't be worrying about those things when I'm staring at you. We love you so much Mark!!

Love,
Your Momma

This is what's happening in there this week:Baby's now the size of a papaya!
Baby's skin is becoming more opaque as the fat starts to pack on. And, thanks to the formation of small capillaries, his newly thick skin is taking on a fresh pink glow.

23 Weeks!!!

My sweet son,

Mark, you gave me and Daddy quite a scare this week, all that growing and stretching your doing in there gave Momma some pretty bad pains so I had to go to Labor and Delivery to get everything checked out. Good news is no contractions and you were moving quite a bit in there so they released me to go home. Daddy said he had never been so scared or emotional before and Momma felt the same. It seems unfathomable to lose you before we officially meet and I hope we never have to face that. You mean so much to us already, your our baby boy our first son and nothing will ever change that. I hope you stay in there until September baby boy!

Love,
Your Momma

This is what's going on in there this week:Baby's now the size of a papaya!
Baby's little face is fully formed...minus the baby fat, of course. The next task at hand for baby: sprouting two teeny-tiny nipples!

22 Weeks!!!

My sweet little boy,

Have I mentioned how much I already love you lately Mark, you are already changing me and my life in so many ways and you aren't even here yet. I'm noticing that your starting to have certain times during the day/night that you always seem to move. You seem to move the most after Daddy gets home and starts talking with Momma. I bought you some books yesterday. I'm hoping you love books as much as Momma. I bought the Peter Rabbit's Giant storybook for us. I remember when I was little your Grandma(my Momma) used to read those stories to me and I can't wait to just hold you and read you those stories at your bedtime. You are such a blessing to us and I want you to always remember how loved and wanted you are.

Love,
Your Momma

This is what's happening in there this week:Baby's now the size of a papaya!
Baby's settling into sleep cycles, snoozing about 12 to 14 hours a day. It shouldn't be hard to figure out when -- just pay attention to those kicks as they start and stop.

21 Weeks!!!

My sweet baby boy,

Mark you seem to be getting more active with every week that passes and now I'm starting to see that some things I eat or drink can make you even more active. My current craving which makes you squirm all in my belly is grape soda, I'm not sure if it's the sugar or temperature or if you just like it lol. I find myself thinking of what traits I think you will have more and more these days. I wonder if you will have Daddy's eyes and Mommy's nose or if you will be pale like your Momma or tan like Daddy. I can't wait to meet you but I'm ready for the time you have left in my belly to slow down, I just enjoy feeling you and keeping you safe in there and I'm trying to soak in every minute but it seems to pass by so fast. Momma and Daddy love you so much and so do so many other people.

Love,
Your Momma

This is what's happening this week:Baby's now the size of a banana!
Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium (a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion, and dead cells), which will fill the first diaper after birth
